What I am Reading Right Now...

Reading the book right now, honestly it started out good, then hit a slow spot for me, but now it has picked up again and I am really enjoying it.  Want to read it before the movie comes out in the spring starring Reese Witherspoon and Robert Pattinson.  See trailer here.

Make It Monday Challenge - February 21

Every Monday Papertrey Inc. will feature a video challenge.  The challenge for the week of February 21 was in an awesome video by Dawn McVey to make a card where you use Scor Tape to adhere glitter to
it.  I love glitter and that and Easter so go together.  Here is my take on the card, right on the wire, but better late than never.  I love how the glitter is almost translucent over the eggs.

The Day After

The day after an occassion my desk in my studio is always a complete mess.  Now do I clean up the mess or do some more...the mess inspires me.

One More Valentine

When creating a card for my daughter, I just had to use the tag I created for the PTI challenge.  It was so pretty and made such a lovely card.  The card base whtie and the patterned paper is from Simple Valentine (Papertrey Ink).

Tag & Frame Challenge

Papertrey is at it again, offering up another amazing prize for their 4th anniversary.  Today's challenge was to create a tag that incorporates a frame of some kind!  Keeping up with my Valentine's creations this week, here is my entry.

To make my handmade flower I cut a second scalloped circle.  Using sharp scissors I started on the outside edge and cut in a spiral towards the centre.  I then started winding tighly, once again towards the centre, and left the last bit as a base to glue the flower down.  Before adding some Zip Dry, I released the flower to relax the petals, then secured the flower to the base.  A perfect addition to a Valerntine treat or bouquet of flowers.

All Supplies from PaperTrey Ink unless otherwise noted:

Cardstock: Sweet Blush, White, Simple Valentine
Stamps:  Fillable Frames #11
Ink:   Sweet Blush, Smokey Shadow
Ribbon:  Sweet Blush
Dies:  Limitless Layers 1 3/4"
Other: Cotton Candy Twine (Divine Twine)

Love Card

I love creating for Valentine's day.  Over the next week I would like to share some Valentines' creations past and present with you.  This little card started with a kraft base, I added some cute cardstock patterned paper from Papertrey Ink's Simple Valentine, matted a Jenni Bowlin mini love bingo card with pure poppy cardstock and then created this puffy little flower with bookprint from an old poetry book.

I first learned how to make the puffy flower watching a video from one of my favourite designers, Dawn McVey, http://dawnmcvey.typepad.com/these_are_a_few_of_my_fav/2010/01/new-raspberry-suite-sneakie-peek.html.

  1. Punch 5 scalloped circles of bookprint.
  2. Layer them and pierce a hole in the middle through all 5 layers then secure with a small brad.
  3. Starting with the top layer, scrunch the paper around the brad.  Do this for the next 3 layers leaving the bottom layer flat.
  4. Open the layers up to reveal the brad.
  5. Thread twine through a button and secure it to the brad using a foam dot.
  6. Arrange the layers and voila you're done.  Gorgeous!

For the inside of the card I printed a blank library card created by Heather Nichols found at http://pinefeather.typepad.com/files/librarycardhn1209.pdf.  Embellished it with Doodlebug, red Simply Sweet rub on letters, a pure poppy scallop, and a kraft circle stamped in pure poppy with a heart.

Cardstock: Kraft, Pure Poppy, White, Simple Valentine (Papertrey Ink)
Stamps:  Heart Prints
Ink:  Pure Poppy (Papertrey Ink)
Other:  Mini Bingo Card (Jenni Bowlin), red button, twine

Hope you enjoyed.
Stay tuned for more Valentine inspiratioin.
