Being Honored by a Blogging Friend

What a wonderful surprise this morning when I was honored by my wonderful blogging friend Joyce of Cards-by-the-Sea with the Leibster Blog Award.  Joyce is typically one of the first people to pass on a comment when I post on my blog.  She is a talented paper crafter whose blog and designs I have been admiring and CASEing for a long time.  Thank you Joyce for considering me to be worthy of this award.

Liebster' is German for 'dearest'.  The award is a 'share-the-love' arrangement, given to inspirational bloggers with less than 200 followers.

Here's the to-do list of any Liebster award recipient:

Thank the giver and link back to the blogger who gave it to you.
Reveal your five blogger picks and let them know by leaving a comment on their blog
Copy and paste the award on your blog (see above)
Hope that those you award forward it to their favourite bloggers

Below are five favorite bloggers who have different styles but always inspire me with their work. I love having this chance to let them know how lucky I have been to meet them through this shared stamping adventure!

Ally - Laughadaisy
Cyndie - Artful Haven
Suzanne - The Card Yard

Back in June 2011, Lisa of My Paper Tales also honored my with the Leibster Blog Award. At that time the rules for Leibster were not as clear as they are now and you were to honor three paper crafters.  I honored:

Cathy Weber  - Empty Nest Crafter
Kara - Kandrdesigns

Papertrey Blog Hop - February 25 & Play Date Cafe Challenge 120

It time for another Papertrey Ink Blog Hop.  During the release this month Papertrey introduced a series of dies for creating interactive cards, easily.  The dies introduced were for creating the following types of cards:  poppers, sliders, spinners and zippers. The challenge for this month's Blog Hop was to create an interactive card.  My Papertrey order hasn't reached me yet but I still wanted to play along.  Using my Silhouette I downloaded a circle shape for making a pop-up card.  My niece just turned 17 and I wanted to make a card for her that wasn't too grown up or too childish but still fun.

I am also entering this card into this weeks Play Date Cafe challenge that features an awesome colour palette of baby blue, orangesicle and basil.

All Supplies are from Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted:

Cardstock: White, Aqua Mist, Summer Sunrise, Spring Moss
Stamps: Make a Wish
Ink: Aqua Mist, Summer Sunrise, Spring Moss
Dies: By the Numbers, Make a Wish, Filigree, Ric Rack
other: assorted buttons (PTI)

colourQ Challenge #125

What a beautiful colour palette Arielle selected for this weeks colourQ.  They made me think of spring. I say this when a snow storm is supposed to be coming in tonight dropping more snow than we have seen all winter.  It will probably rain.  lol

This week I went very CAS.  I stamped my white panel first then ran it through the Cuttlebug.  I originally stamped the sentiment with London Fog, but it really seemed to disappear--so back to black.  The flowers were punched then mounted with foam squares on to the coloured cardstock bases.  A grey pearl was added to each square to pull out the grey base.

Cardstock: White, Aqua Mist, Simply Chartreuse, Terracotta Tile (PTI) Grey (Prism)
Stamps:  Birthday Basic (PTI)
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Memento)
Punch: Retro Flower (EK Success)
other: Herringbone embossing folder (Cuttlebug), silver pearls (Basic Grey), foam squares

Make It Monday #54: Glitter Buttons & Winter's End

This week Ashley Cannon Newell did the video for Make It Monday.  She did an excellent video on how to add glitter to buttons. Although glitter and I still do not get along very well, how could I resist these sparkly buttons.

All Supplies are from Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted:

Cardstock: White, Aqua Mist, Summer Sunrise
Stamps: Everyday Button Bits
Ink: Memento (Tsukineko)
Dies: Clouds 1 & 2, Ric Rack
other: assorted buttons (PTI), foam dots

It  has been a fairly mild winter in Southern Ontario this year, there have been a lot of grey days since Christmas.  However, this past week we have had couple of beautiful sunny days.  We had snow on Saturday and Sunday the sun was shining and melting the snow off the roof onto the sand cherry. This is a typical and breathtaking prelude to spring here.  Yay!

colourQ Challenge #124

This weeks colourQ pallete had my stumped.  I'm not sure if it is the amount of grey days we have had since Christmas or that my creative mojo was on holidays.  I couldn't wrap my head around it and was running out of time.  Friday night I started sketching some ideas, and when I went to start creating not one of them was going to work for me.  Then it hit me, I rearranged a few of my colours and it came together so easily.  The finished card put a smile on my face and now I have an encouragement card to pass on to someone who needs some.

All Supplies are from Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted:

Cardstock: White, Aqua Mist, Vintage Cream, Sweet Blush
Stamps: Flower Fusion #12
Ink: Pure Poppy (PTI), Shabby Shutters (Ranger), Memento (Tsukineko)
Dies: Tag Sale #3, Flower Fusion #12
other: Sweet Blush button (PTI), foam dots, Cotton Candy twine (The Twinery)

One Last Valentine

Happy Valentines Day to all my blogging friends!  Y

I  hope that you are all doing something fun this evening.  We are ordering in Chinese food tonight with the kids,  I made some Pillsbury Valentines Ready to Bake Cookies (my kids fav) and I made homemade sugar cookies that I will ice with my daughter after dinner.

I have one thing left to post for Valentine's Day.  I ordered the Sweet Love Little Yellow Bicycle Journal tablet a couple of years ago because I had to have it.  I didn't get any of the papers but they were easy to match.  I made a mini album for my Valentine, Hope he enjoys it.  He is my biggest fan.  Excuse the messy printing on some of the pages, my MS has flared up and my hands are a lot shaky.

My Son's Valentine

It is always difficult to create masculine cards, especially for a 17 year old boy who is a jock!  My son has an artistic side and a sensitive side but he really is a jock, see post HERE.  I always make cards for all of my family but last year when he was 16, I decided to make a smaller Valentine for him so it didn't look like I was babying him.  Well it didn't go unnoticed, why was my card smaller than Brooklyn's?  Although he was joking around I decided that I needed to make him a 'regular' sized card this year.

All Supplies are from Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted:

Cardstock: Kraft, Pure Poppy
Designer Paper: Red with pink dots (Scenic Route), red with white and pink dots (Text-Style Simple Valentine)
Stamps: Love Birds
Ink: Memento (Tsukineko)
Dies: Heart Prints
other: foam dots

CAS-ual Fridays #39 - Love Ya to Pieces

Paper piercing is the challenge at CAS-ual Fridays this week.  I was going through some scraps in my Easter bin this week and decided to use my scraps and pieces together some decorated Easter eggs.  Have you ever cut your finger on an egg before?  Well today I cut my finger on an egg die!  Nothing serious, a little band aid did the trick and  we were back in business.

All Supplies are from Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted:

Cardstock: White, Summer Sunrise
Designer Paper:  For Peeps Sake (Imaginisce)
Stamps:  Egg Print
Ink: Summer Sunrise, Hawaiian Shores (PTI), Tuxedo Black (Memento)

Papertrey 5th Anniversary Day 7

Today's Papertrey challenge is in honor of the upcoming Valentine's Day holiday and Melissa Bickford's new Heart-2-Heart stamp series, the challenge today is to create a project that incorporates hearts into it's design.  They can be stamped hearts, die-cut hearts, felt hearts, glittered hearts, a heart border, or even hear shaped card base.  Want to be inspired even further?  Do a search on Pinterest or Google for hearts!

My inspiration came from a card done by Valerie Salmon in the February Scrapbooks Etc.

Designer Paper: Text-Style Simple Valentine, Cupcake (Doodlebug)
