Let's Be Thankful - october '16

It's the (almost) last day of the month and time for this month's edition of the 12 Kits of Occasions!
Every year in October we post the day before Halloween because we know that the 31st is a busy day for everyone.

Michelle Ferguson, I Card Everyone, is our hostess this month and what a gorgeous thankful kit she sent out to all of us. So many beautiful papers and unique embellishments. I was able to create 5 cards for today but I still have lots left to make some more.

More Exciting News

Happy Friday!

I am so excited to share with you today that I am joining the Jillibean Soup 2016 - 2017 Design Team along with some other fabulous designers! I have been a long time fan of their patterned papers and embellishments and now I get the chance to share their amazing products with you.

We have had a real shift in weather in my part of the world this week.
Temperatures were certainly cooler this week but it was typical fall weather perfect for walking and admiring the changing colours.

You may have seen this photo earlier this week when I posted it, but I took it from the top of my driveway on Wednesday afternoon after taking Sam for a walk.

Friday morning I woke up to this, a light dusting of snow. We haven't had a frost yet this fall so my roses are still blooming so I love this contrast of seasons.

By the end of the day we had 3" of snow!

The forecast has us back in the double digits by Saturday, so I know this won't stick around. A bit of a wake up call that it's coming and we better get the outdoor furniture in and get the snowtires on the car!

Have a wonderful weekend!

It's time for a new cue card at CASology!

This week`s new cue is:

I used this sweet little Paper Smooches band aid as the star of the show. I paired it up with a kraft base on a white zig zag stitched square that is popped up.

Christmas Critters

IMG_0842

I don't know about you but I always have the best intentions in January to get going on my Christmas cards. I usually start off good and then as soon as the nice weather kicks in I start falling off the band wagon.

When I was away in Kansas last week I managed to make a set of 8 Christmas cards done using the new Papertrey Ink Christmas Critters stamps and dies. It kind of became the joke because I stamped out 8 sets of the two different mice in the set with their sweaters and scarves, but when I went to die cut them I realized there was a separate stamp for their ears and the way I had stamped them on the card stock their ears were either going off the card stock or through the tail of the other mouse! So back to the beginning and I started over again!

I used Altenew inks for my cards--Morning Frost, Ruby Red and Arctic. I always stamp before I die cut so I stamped the bodies and their clothes first, then I die cut them before I stamped their ears. I did that because the chance of my stamping their ears in the right place to line up with the die were near impossible.

Inspired by All the Little Things #29

IMG_0819

Today I have a card to share with you that I created for this week's Inspired by All the Little Things.  I am the hostess this week and I thought this would be the perfect photo for a fall inspiration. The leaves look just like the leaves blanketing my front lawn this week.

I created my leaves by first sponging a white panel with Distress Inks--Peeled Paint, Fired Brick, Dried Marigold and Mustard Seed. I flicked some water onto the panel and left it to dry. I primarily use Bristol Smooth paper when I am using Distress Inks, the inks blend so smoothly and it takes the water splatters perfectly.  I set the panel aside to dry and prepared the card base, stamped and embossed the SugarPea Designs sentiment in gold. Once the panel was dry I die cut the Lawn Fawn Stitched Leaves and adhered them to the base with adhesive foam tape.  Finally I added a few Pretty Pink Posh water drops.
